Our language is the root of our culture

ᎣᏏᏲ ᏂᎦᏓ (Osiyo nigada) (Greetings everyone),

Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr. and Deputy Chief Bryan Warner promised to bring you the opportunity to help save our beautiful language, the root of our culture, and now we're living up to that promise. At-large citizens across the United States are forming study groups to be connected and stay connected to our Nation, your Nation, to help not only preserve our language but to perpetuate it.

This course will involve up to 30 hours of total course time:

  • Three online sessions on March 18, 19, and 20, from 5 to 7 p.m. CT

  • Two full days of face-to-face Cherokee Nation teacher interaction at the First Americans Museum (FAM) in Oklahoma City on March 22 and 23 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT

  • A 6-hour online follow-up on March 25, 26, and 27, from 5 to 7 p.m. CT

Your Cherokee Nation is paying for everything: venue, food, and materials. What we need from you is a commitment of time and energy.
