Deputy and Principal Chief Candidates Debates are Tuesday, April 25!

This is a reminder that the debates of the candidates for Deputy Chief and Principal Chief will be held on Tuesday, April 25 beginning at 6 pm Central Time. The Deputy Chief debate will be first followed by a 15-minute intermission. The Principal Chief debate will begin after the intermission.

For those who are able to attend in person, admission is $5 and tickets can be purchased at the Cherokee Phoenix's new office in the Cort Mall on downtown Tahlequah (215 S. Muskogee Avenue). Proceeds will go toward a Cherokee Phoenix journalism scholarship.

For those who cannot attend in person, the debates will be livestreamed on the Cherokee Phoenix's Facebook page and YouTube channel. 

Absentee ballots will also be sent out on April 25 and 26, so for most At Large voters who requested a ballot before the deadline, you should be receiving your ballot within the next week. With the arrival of the absentee ballots, voting for the June 3 election is already beginning! The Deputy Chief and Principal Chief debates are your opportunity to hear from the candidates for the highest offices.
